CatholicCare was founded as the official welfare agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. CatholicCare (formerly Centacare Sydney) was established in 1941 to assist the disadvantaged within the Sydney area to achieve sustainable economic and social outcomes.
Our Mission: CatholicCare is the official welfare agency of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Sydney. The Mission of the Agency, as an instrument of Christ's liberating presence in the world, is to enable the social and emotional wellbeing of communities, families and individuals.
Our Vision: CatholicCare's vision is for a society in which there is full recognition of individual rights and responsibilities, and that enables the dignity, equality and participation of all persons.
Our Values: Human Dignity and Worth; Commitment to Justice; Integrity; Accountability; Excellence in Services; Accessibility; Innovation
CatholicCare seeks to fulfill our Mission through a breadth of professional programs. CatholicCare has built a comprehensive body of knowledge in working with a broad spectrum of people experiencing disadvantage. CatholicCare’s extensive experience in assisting the disadvantaged has been gained through the delivery of over 120 programs and services, through over 900 dedicated staff and volunteers across 25 sites. Last year, over 100,000 members of the community received support directly from CatholicCare.
Our range of services allows for us in many cases to provide wrap around servicing and coordinated specialist assistance to service users living with multiple issues/complex disadvantage. At an agency and a practical level CatholicCare supports a person centred approach which recognises the incredible capacity of those with whom we work. CatholicCare strongly works towards increasing the capacity of individuals to participate fully and as independently as possible within society.
