Our Vision & Mission
Social services are essential to the mission of the Catholic Church. Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) is the Catholic Church’s peak national social services body. CSSA draws on the experience of decades of Catholic social service and social policy development in Australia as we advocate for those who are most disadvantaged, strengthen the social services which support them, and promote our network’s core values of love and justice.
As a national advocate, CSSA works with its members to produce evidence/research which informs public opinion and assists lawmakers to develop just and compassionate social and economic policies that will improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Australia. In doing so, CSSA fosters connectedness and partners with Catholic social service providers.
CSSA envisages a fairer, more inclusive Australian society that reflects and supports the dignity, equality and participation of all people.
CSSA advances the social service ministry which is integral to the Mission of the Catholic Church in Australia.
This Statement of Strategic Intent places our vision and mission into operational context. It describes the principles that support our work, the values that direct our activities, the relationships that we seek to build and the achievements to which we aspire.
