Review of Employment Services

Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) welcomes the Government’s decision to review the operation of employment services. We have previously made suggestions about how Job Network could better serve the interests of disadvantaged job seekers in a 2006 paper A Job Network for Job Seekers (Murray 2006).

Australia's Compliance with the UN Convention on Racial Discrimination

Australia’s obligations under Articles 5(a) and 5(e)(iv) of the UN Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) have been compromised by measures under three Commonwealth statutes which do not constitute “special measures” under the CERD Convention.

Submission to COAG: CSSA Open Letter to COAG Participant

When attempting to resolve difficulties and complications with so many cross-jurisdictional issues traversing the Federal and State/Territory divide it is refreshing to see a commitment from our newly elected Prime Minister to set in place a new framework for co-operative Commonwealth-State relations with the hope of resolving many current problems and challenges. We welcome the Cabinet’s decision of 17 December to place Indigenous Issues on the COAG agenda.
